Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
Overview:
If you encounter issues while using Stolik Menu, please check the solutions to the most common problems below.
Menu page returns a 404 Error (Not Found)
If you see a “404 Not Found” error after publishing your menu and clicking “Preview,” it usually means WordPress hasn’t refreshed its link structure (Permalinks).
Solution:
- Go to your WordPress Dashboard: Settings → Permalinks.
- You don’t need to change anything. Simply scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes.
- This flushes the rewrite rules. Try opening your menu again.
Menu changes are not visible on mobile (Caching)
Did you update a price or photo, but the QR code still shows the old version on your phone? This is likely a caching issue.
Solution:
- Caching Plugins: If you use plugins like LiteSpeed Cache, WP Rocket, or Autoptimize, clear their cache (look for a “Purge All” or “Clear Cache” button).
- Plugin Cache: Click the Publish Menu button in the Stolik Menu editor again. This forces a refresh of our internal static files.
- Browser Cache: Open the menu in Incognito/Private mode on your phone to ensure you aren’t viewing a saved version.
License Error: “Activation limit reached”
Cause:
This message means your PRO license key is already active on the maximum number of allowed domains (for example, you used it on a staging/test site and are now trying to activate it on your live production site).
Solution:
- If you have access to the old site: Go to the License tab in Stolik Menu and click Deactivate.
- If you deleted the old site:
1. Log in to your Lemon Squeezy Customer Portal (you can find the link in your purchase email).
2. Go to Licenses section.
3. Find your Stolik Menu license and click Deactivate next to the old domain.
Once deactivated from the old URL, you can successfully activate the key on your new site.
Translations are not saving
If you fill in translations and click “Update Translation,” but the fields appear empty after reloading, you may be hitting your server’s PHP input limit. This often happens with very large menus (100+ items across multiple languages).
Solution:
Contact your hosting provider and ask them to increase the PHP max_input_vars setting to 3000 or higher.
QR Code is not generating (Blank Image)
If the QR Code tab shows a blank square or a broken image icon:
Possible Causes:
- Missing GD/Imagick Library: Your server must support image generation. This is standard, but some budget hosting plans disable it.
- Permission Issues: The folder
/wp-content/uploads/stolik-qr-cache/must be writable by WordPress.
Diagnostics:
Go to Tools → Site Health in your WordPress dashboard and check if there are any critical errors regarding PHP extensions or file permissions.
Issues with Polylang (Duplicate Items)
If you are using the Polylang plugin and see strange, duplicated, or “draft” items in your menu list, Polylang might be trying to synchronize Stolik Menu content incorrectly.
Solution:
- Go to Languages → Settings.
- Find the Synchronization section.
- Uncheck the option for “Menus” or “Custom Post Types” specifically for
stolik_menu_item. - Save changes.
